The Waterman Expert I fountain pen was introduced around 1988 and manufactured in France until 1999. It was designed as an accessible, high-value everyday writer positioned below luxury flagships like the Le Man 100
The Unique Nib: The Expert I is instantly recognizable by its distinctive two-tone, "slab-sided" (or folded wing) steel nib featuring a straight-sided faceted look and a stylized Waterman "W".
Distinctive Trim: It features a stylized "W" logo positioned between two gold-filled cap rings, a tie-shaped or winged clip, and distinctive tapered or truncated cap/barrel ends.
Materials: Unlike the all-metal lacquered body tubes of the later Expert II and III models, the Expert I version utilized a mass-tinted resin/plastic cap and barrel construction.
