The coloring almost looks black but is midnight blue. The barrel has a great imprint at the center of the barrel and on the butt end of the barrel. The barrel imprint reads, "SWAN LOGO TRADEMARK "SWAN" SELF-FILLER MABIE TODD & CO LTD. MADE IN ENGLAND PAT. NO. 575341". The lower portion of the barrel of the fountain pen has a clean "3220" imprint, which is the model number of the fountain pen.
