Nib: Fine 14k Lifetime, USA, firm
1940’s Sheaffer Valiant 1000, Lifetime “Skyboy” Fountain Pen.
Condition: Pre-owned, there are no major imperfections to note: No chips cracks or engravings or any signs of faults or major surface ware
* Sold as is. I prefer not to change the sac. Due to the age of the clear celluloid in the section. The compression is low but still filling.
The term Skyboy was coined in a time when airplanes were “taking off” and Sheaffer wanted to capitalize on the attractiveness that they had.
Military clip, (In the 8/1/41, catalog, the Skyboy has acquired the over-the-top clip designed for men in uniform)
Sheaffer advertised the Skyboy perfected, FLO-RITE (I suppose contraction of FLOw-wRITE) fluid control compensations for altitude and temperature. “It writes in the air; writes anywhere!”.
Golden Brown straited. Lever-fill, Celluloid , w/gold plated trim with Visulated barrel -visible to the last drop. Has a rare white feed. There are several theories as to the origin of the white feed. They are: That is was simply a prototype, not meant for public use, that escaped the factory. That it was a response to the wartime rubber shortage
