Ballpoint: click action, Parker refill
In most vintage Ballpoints, the refills are dry and have to be replaced.
The standard Parker-style ballpoint refill—often referred to as the G2 or Parker-style "Type G2" international standard refill
Parker Quink Gel refills. They feature a structured ceramic ball tip and a formula designed to dry quickly on the page to prevent smudging. The gel formula uses water-based or oil-gel inks that flow much more freely.
Pencil: 0.5mm lead
The Lead Advance: Pressing the top push-button cap compresses an internal spring, pushing a three-jaw brass clutch down through the internal barrel.
The Grip and Release: As the clutch moves forward, it expands away from an internal ring, loosening its grip on the lead. This actions pushes a precise 0.5mm or 0.7mm increment of lead forward.
The Reset: Releasing the button pulls the clutch back up, where the internal ring squeezes the jaws shut again, locked tightly onto the lead so it won't push back inside when you write.
