During the 1920’s Mentmore Manufacturing Company Ltd Produced Vast quantities of writing instruments, often branded with other names. During the late 1920’s the Platignum brand was launched. A good quality low priced pen in a wide range of colours. It was the 1930’s when Mentmore began manufacturing high quality pens with 14kt gold nibs which make superb writers and are much sought after by collectors. The economy brand, Platignum continued to be used right up until the late 1960’s
Among pens that use ink sacs, the button-filling mechanism is one of the most common. To fill, take off the blind cap, press the button, and place the nib in ink. Release the button to allow the sac to re inflate. Allow ten seconds for full inflation.
