The collaboration between the Swiss architect, Mario Botta, and Caran d'Ache is part of a long tradition. The company has always embraced current trends in architecture, particularly with such legendary pens as La Gotica and La Modernista.

Clean lines
The purist aesthetics of the Ticino-born architect’s universe naturally attract attention. The essential shapes such as the circle, square and rectangle, along with his deep-felt attachment to nature, have placed Mario Botta’s creations in the footsteps of the Bauhaus style.

The “Mario Botta for Caran d’Ache” limited edition, designed in collaboration with the architect, is the result of highly refined work based on a cylindrical concept. The writing instrument is thus encased inside a body shaped like a silver-plated, rhodium-coated and entirely polished tube. Its generous proportions and rounded ends ensure that these pens are very easy to hold and comfortable to write with.

One fountain pen conceals another!
As exotic as it is symbolic, a veritable peacock feather tops the cap of this writing instrument, thus creating a newly original touch of adornment and reminder of the saying “Fine feathers make fine birds”. Its magnetic attachment enables a variety of surprise effects, while subtly suggesting that the cylindrical body conceals a fountain pen (still known in French as stylo plume like the quill pens of yesteryear).

Mario Botta’s signature is engraved on the clip of the writing instrument. The “Mario Botta for Caran d’Ache” limited edition comprises 2005 fountain pens in memory of the year it was created.
