The Carter's Ink Company was founded in 1858 by William Carter in Boston, Massachusetts, initially as a {Link: writing and copying ink venture. It grew from a small paper-dealing business into a major manufacturer, officially incorporating as The Carter's Ink Company in the late 19th century. The company was eventually acquired by Avery Dennison in 1975.
