The Graf von Faber-Castell Pen of the Year 2007 continues the company’s fascination with producing pens from rare and unique materials.

The Pen of the Year 2007 has a barrel made of petrified wood. Formed over a period of 360 million years as the wood is replaced with minerals and metals which retain the organic structure of the wood.

The petrified wood is that of ancient Brazilian hard woods sourced for their quality - that of a precious gemstone. The precious wood is pain-takingly cut and polished by Andreas Crummenauer, the master craftsman of Herbert Stephan gemstone.

The finely finished petrified wood is held in Graf von Faber-Castell's magnum-sized barrel, which, along with the cap and trim is platinum plated. Each piece is individually numbered and certificated.
