Captive converter. A converter is secured in the barrel, and the pen unscrews mid-barrel at the sterling band.
Black ebonite. Cap features two engraved emblems used by Francesco Baracca: the rearing horse and the hippogriff. The trim is sterling silver.

Francesco Baracca was Italy's top fighter ace of World War I. The prancing horse logo that is engraved into the cap comes from his family's coat of arms, and was later adopted by Enzo Ferrari for that company's emblem.
